Emerging economies like India’s need the drive, spirit, and wealth creating power of entrepreneurship. They add value to the market with new products and services – or by bringing traditional products in new markets – and in the process they create new jobs that are valuable and productive.
Making the choice on becoming an entrepreneur can be a challenge unto itself. He or she is the person who perceives the market opportunity and then has the motivation, drive and ability to mobilize resources to meet it. Risk bearing is an important element of entrepreneurial behaviour. For some the idea of risk and reward is to get the reward and to let others to take the risks. Creativity is a prerequisite for entrepreneurship but many successful entrepreneurs have been good at copying others and they qualify as innovators and creators only by stretching the definition beyond elastic limits.
